While the rain brought the coolness of the late autumn in Lu’an, the engineering team of SinoHy Energy have successfully completed the commission of the first set of electrolyser for the first megawatt-class PEM hydrogen generation system in China on September 29th and put it into operation, which marks the milestone achievement of the hydrogen comprehensive utilization station technology demonstration project of National Grid Anhui Company after fighting against the scorching sun and high temperature for several months with the commitment on high standard and high speed.

Product introduction

The project adopts SinoHy Energy’s most advanced PEM technology, which includes a set of medium pressure hydrogen generation unit with capacity at 220 Nm3/h, a hydrogen storage unit, auxiliary equipment and a set of fuel cell power generation and compression system with capacity at 1MW. The hydrogen purity is 99.999%. PEM hydrogen generation technology has the advantages of low energy consumption, high current density, high gas pressure, small equipment footprint and strong resistance to fluctuations, which is suitable for connecting with photovoltaic, wind power and other renewable energy sources.

 

Project Introduction

This demonstration project of the megawatt-class hydrogen energy comprehensive utilization station in Lu’an, Anhui Province is the corresponding demonstration project of the State Grid Corporation’s science and technology project “Research and Demonstration of Key Technology of Megawatt-class Hydrogen Generation and Comprehensive Utilization”. “The demonstration project is mainly used for peak regulation, which can convert excess electricity into hydrogen energy and store it for peak regulation instead of thermal power generation, thus achieving ‘peak shaving and valley filling’ and generating huge energy-saving benefits. It will provide important support for maximizing the use of renewable energy storage, promoting the application of electricity-to-hydrogen technology and the application of multi-energy complementary self-healing microgrid, empowering “power supply + energy efficiency services”, and helping to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
